Forbes Magazine ranks Grameen Koota as one of the best MFIs in the world, 20 December 2007
The Forbes Magazine has compiled its first ever list of Top 50 Microfinance institution of the world and Grameen Koota has the 19th rank. They did this exercise based on the data provided by The Mix, M-CRILL and MICRO RATE. The lists of 50 top MFIs have chosen from the list of 641 MFIs. "

Muhammad Yunus Visited Grameen Koota, 19 December, 2005
Ever since Grameen Koota started functioning, the most memorable occasion was that of Prof. Muhammad Yunus visit to Grameen Koota’s head office on 19th December 2005. Grameen Koota arranged 3 meetings during his visit beginning with the staff, then members and lastly a public meeting. In his first meeting with the Grameen Koota staff, Prof. Yunus congratulated the staff for their exemplary work to help change the lives of the poor. He then explained the staff the history of Grameen bank, its present strength and new work they were doing, Prof. Yunus also touched upon the huge unmet demand for microcredit in India.
The second meeting was with the 150 members of Grameen Koota from around the head office. Members who were eagerly waiting for his arrival, has already heard about Prof. Yunus and the Grameen bank of Bangladesh during the time of initial group trainings. Some members composed poems and songs to welcome him. Professor later told them that with Himmat- (COURAGE) and help from Grameen Koota and fellow group members they can reach their manzil however far away it was.
The final public meeting was attended by Board members, Bankers, Press and well wishers. The COO took him through a presentation of Grameen Koota, the times, it’s outreach, the future plans. It was followed by a special felicitation by the Grameen Koota’s client Board members.

Grameen Koota’s objectives clearly are to reduce vulnerability of the poor, equality, social justice, and mobilise funds for the unorganised sector. Women meet regularly in a Kendra to collect savings and repay loans is one of the steps that Grameen Koota takes in improving the livelihoods of the poor.
