CGAP CGAP

CGAP is a consortium of 31 public and private development agencies working together to expand access to financial services for the poor in developing countries. CGAP was created by these aid agencies and industry leaders to help create permanent financial services for the poor on a large scale. CGAP's unique membership structure and network of worldwide partners make it a potent convening platform and resource center for the entire microfinance industry. CGAP serves four groups of clients: development agencies, financial institutions including microfinance institutions (MFIs), government policymakers and regulators, and other service providers, such as auditors and rating agencies.

COW Fund COW Fund

Established in 2004, CowFund is an Australian not-for-profit initiative that aims to support the delivery of microcredit projects in developing communities in Asia. Often the microcredit projects supported by CowFund involve the provision of cows and other livestock to needy families - hence the name 'CowFund'. CowFund aims to offer disadvantaged communities "a hand up, not a handout". All CowFund programs are locally-designed, cooperative systems which ensure that investment made by individuals returns to themselves and their communities.

Grameen Foundation USA (GFUSA) is a global non-profit organization that combines microfinance, new technologies, and innovation to empower the world's poorest people to escape poverty. Founded in 1997, GFUSA’s global network includes 52 partners in 22 countries. The network has impacted an estimated 7 million lives in Asia, Africa, the Americas, and the Middle East.

GT GT
Grameen Trust is committed to the cause of poverty alleviation. It uses microcredit as a tool for fighting poverty and follows Grameen Bank Approach for the purpose. It was established by Professor Muhammad Yunus in 1989. It is a non-profit and non-government organisation.

Under its Grameen Bank Replication Program (GBRP) program, Grameen Trust (GT) supports and promotes poverty focused microcredit programs all over the world. It organises Dialogue Programs for potential replicators and provides training and technical assistance to replication projects. It provides funding to selected projects and monitors their performance. Up to the end of July 2006 it has provided support to 138 replication partners in 37 countries of the world.

HIVOS aspires to contribute to a free, fair and sustainable world where men and women have equal access to resources, opportunties and markets. Hivos supports the financial sector in developing countries at different levels through its Financial Services and Enterprise Development department. Seed Capital Packages for young MFIs consist of a grant transferred in tranches, based on conditional minimum performance targets and can be used to expand the loan portfolio. HIVOS offers support for meso and macro level financial sector development and acts as a networking, lobbying and knowledge sharing organization by linking MFIs, microfinance and micro-insurance experts and organisations specialised in gender, environment and HIV/AIDS.

UNITUS

Unitus combines the principles of venture capital, investment banking and strategy consulting to accelerate the progress of high potential MFIs. After partnering with an MFI, Unitus offers linkages to local and international banks, debt, equity and grants. The focus is on creating sustainable MFIs that are capable of quickly expanding their client outreach. Unitus currently has sixteen partners in six countries.
